Hello. I’m glad that you’ve found yourself here and that you’re considering counseling. With the types of change and uncertainty that we’ve all been facing, the importance of seeking help and support is more important than ever. Therapy is an opportunity to enter a safe supportive space, slow down, tune in and explore your internal landscape, connecting to what is really going on inside your mind, and body.

I believe in the inner connectivity of all parts of our humanness and take an integrative mind-body and spirit approach to therapeutic work.  I also take a collaborative approach to help connect clients with the resilience, gifts and truth that lie within their own body and brain. I place confidence in you as the expert of your life and strive to treat each individual’s vulnerability with great care, presence and respect. I view my counseling role as facilitator, collaborator and coach helping to shine a light on areas in your life that are ready for some upgraded perspectives, new tools and lasting patterns to take root. I love helping people cultivate a deeper relationship with themselves and shifting beliefs that this is “selfish”.  Mahatma Ghandi and many others have said it best, “if you want to change the world, start with yourself”.

My practice of counseling and psychotherapy is person-centered, attachment-based, and trauma-informed. I focus on utilizing the power of relationships for healing.  Counseling is not one-size-fits-all and I consider your unique life experiences and neurobiology as we work together. I weave approaches rooted in research and science with existential and experiential inquiry and processes. This may include values clarification, CBT, parts work, mindfulness, somatic and or EMDR therapy.  Outside of formal training, my approach to therapy is intuitive and inspired by transformative experiences of acceptance, help and healing from therapists and teachers throughout my unique journey. I have a deep trust in the power of therapeutic connection, and healing, having experienced it myself. I try my best to “walk the talk” so I’m not going to offer tools or approaches that I wouldn’t be willing to do myself.

Becoming a therapist is a second career path for me. I spent some time exploring work in the criminal justice field before becoming disenchanted and then worked in the medical education for over 15 years and have spent a great amount of time traveling and living in different parts of the US.  I have taken a number of winding paths and what I have found to be both an anchor and inspiration– is appreciation and empathy for differing human experiences as well as a continuous discovery of the things that connect us all.

Outside of the being a counselor, I love spending time with my family and friends including my Australian Shepard, Moxie, practicing yoga, meditation, gardening, dancing and being absorbed in nature.
