Hello. I’m glad that you’ve found yourself here and that you’re considering counseling. It takes courage to seek help especially in the self sufficient, fast-paced, technology driven, culture we’re living in.

Having a deep passion for celebrating uniqueness and authenticity, I recognize that honoring our individual paths can often bring up lots of emotions as well as “shoulds”, “have-tos” and/or comparison. Trust me, you are not alone. Therapy is an opportunity to enter a safe supportive space, slow down, tune in and explore your internal landscape, connecting to what is true for you.

I strive to treat each individual’s vulnerability with great care, presence and respect. I view my counseling role as facilitator, collaborator and coach helping to shine a light on areas in your life that are ready for some new tools and strategies. I believe we each contain immense inner wisdom and while we’ll work collaboratively, I place confidence in you as the expert of your life. My counseling sessions are very conversational; we’ll focus in the moment, talking through your concerns to build a solid foundation that best supports your desired goals. I’m devoted to holding the right balance of comfort, curiosity and challenge to help navigate thoughts, emotions, and/or tough patterns.

I love helping client’s cultivate self-compassion, healing and insight that contribute to feeling more empowered and resolute. I practice from an attachment-based perspective, and focus on utilizing the power of relationship for healing. I believe in the inner connectivity of all parts of our humanness, collectively and individually and take an integrative mind, body and spirit approach to therapeutic work. I incorporate techniques from the CBT, neurobiology, parts work, mindfulness, existential and experiential frameworks. I’m also trained in EMDR and have found this to be an especially effective treatment approach when working with painful issues from the past, including trauma.

My work as a therapist is inspired by transformative experiences of acceptance, and guidance from therapists and teachers throughout my unique journey. I have a deep faith and trust in the power of therapeutic connection, and healing, having experienced it myself. In addition, life experiences outside of formal training, richly inform my therapy work. I’ve been gifted with a deep curiosity and wanderlust, inspiring travel, beach living, work in the criminal justice and medical education fields as well as studies in meditation and mystical spiritual traditions over the past several decades. After a nearly a 20 year career in medical education and project management, I obtained a Masters in Counseling from St. Edwards University. What I have found to be the pulse within my curiosity is a deep appreciation for differing cultural perspectives and discovering the things that connect us all.

Outside of the counseling room I love spending time with family and friends including my 9-year old Border Collie Moki, practicing yoga, creating things and exploring new hiking and restaurants in Austin.
